SYNOPSIS:
Up and coming football hero, Colton Michaels, makes a Hail Mary pass one night in
the college locker room that results in the hottest, sexiest five days of his young life.
However, interference after the play has him hiding his past and burying his future
in the bottom of a bottle. While Colt seems to have it all, looks can be deceiving,
especially when you're trapped so far in a closet that you can't see your way out.
When ten years of living his expected fast-lane lifestyle lands him engaged to his
manipulative Russian supermodel girlfriend, he decides it’s time to call a new play.

Jace Montgomery single-handedly built the largest all-star cheerleading gym in the
world, driven by a need to forget a life-altering encounter with a handsome
quarterback a decade ago. His reputation as an excellent coach, hard-nosed
business man, and savvy entrepreneur earned him respect in the sometimes catty
world of competitive cheerleading. When Jace learns of his ex-lover’s plans to
marry, his heart executes a barrel roll and his carefully-placed resolve tumbles down
without a mat to absorb the shock. Can his island escape help him to finally let go of
the past and move his life forward?

FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK:

“Let me tell you what I am sure of, what I want. I want you to fuck me tonight. I want you inside me. It’s my first time, but I know I liked your finger in my ass when we made out in the locker room. How do you feel about that?”
*
“No, I just need a minute, that’s all. I've thought about this night for a long time. I want this, and I want it with you.” Colt kissed Jace’s lips, a smile spread across his face. “I plan on doing this often. Just be gentle with me, or not. Whatever.” And with that, Colt gave a devilish smirk, winked, and turned on his heel, not bothering to look back as he stepped inside the bathroom.
*
“You're so freaking hot, Michaels. As much as I love watching you suck my thumb, I have bigger plans for you. I wanna show you how good this can be. I need to be buried balls deep inside you, and I will be, but I want you good and relaxed before we start.”
*
“I’m not gonna say it now, but I hope you see where I'm going with this. I want the promise of someday from you. That’s all I'm asking, Jace.”
*
I love you, Jace. I always have, and through all my mistakes, I wanted you to know I’ve never said that to anyone else. Only you.”
*
I’m willing to spend the rest of my life showing you how much you mean to me. I’ll work every single day to be the man you deserve, but let me make love to you tonight. Let me know what it’s like to feel you again. Please.
*
“I love you,” Colt declared against Jace’s lips. He truly meant those three little words. There had never been any doubt in his mind Jace was the only man for him.
*
“I love you, too.” Jace made Colt smile. He'd waited so long to hear those words from this man. Too long.
*
“I’ve never gotten over you. Ever. Not one day passed that I didn’t think about you. For me, you’re the love of my life. Wherever you are is exactly where I want to be,”
“But it’s forever for me.”
*

“I’ll be waiting on you,” Jace whispered

REVIEW

My rating = A 'take my breath away' FIVE +++++

OK and exhale. Deep sigh.

This book took my breath away. Totally. From the first hot scene, all the way through the twists and turns of the storyline, the highs and the lows, the love and the hatred, the acceptance and dis-association, I inhaled it. This, without a doubt is one of the BEST m/m romances I have ever read. Even now, a good week after I read it, I still tear up thinking about Colt and Jace.

Colton Michaels is the big strong, hot quarterback for the college team who has every girl falling at his feet. What nobody knows or would even hazard a guess at, is that Colt’s eyes are looking elsewhere. Over to the cheer line at the gorgeous specimen of maleness that is Jace Montgomery. But what Colt doesn't know is that Jace has been adoring him from afar. That is until that wonderful day in the locker room that the Universe tilted for both of them.

They both know they have found something special and Colt invites Jace to spend a week with him on a trip to Hawaii. What happens there is a creation of their own little world and a deep and devout love for each other which evolves a promise and a future all mapped out.

That is until they are spotted at the airport on the return home and the outside evil that is lurking in the shape of Colt’s father, Larry Michaels finds out about them. What happens next is to have a drastic effect on both their lives for the next decade. Larry Michaels is an ex NFL star and a vindictive and controlling man. He is living his life now through his son and no gay cheer boy is going to take away his son’s future in NFL and the riches that will bring. Especially to him as the self-appointed manager to Colt’s career.

Jace is left in the dark about what has happened except that Colt appears to no longer what to see or speak to him. What happens in that bar had me heartbroken for Jace. With the insults being thrown at him and the bigotry just made my blood boil yet no violence came from this beautiful man. All he was worried about was Colt and that action totally encapsulated all that there was to know about Jace. So selfless to the last. And that is the last Jace sees of Colt for ten years.

What transpires over the next ten years is both men going down different paths of life, yet both secretly following through snippets of the press and media, how each other have carved out successful careers. Each hiding their own inner demons and regrets. Colt is very much controlled by outside influences, especially his father. He finds himself engaged to a gold digging Russian model who is out for what she can get who drags him down into a life of depravity and excess. Jace on the other hand is a highly successful cheer gym owner, with teams winning all the big competitions. But then something happens in Colt’s life that tips the Universe back, that has them both crossing paths again.

I just totally loved the relationship of Colt and Jace when they were together but even apart, although heart breaking to read just kept me wanting to right the injustices that were taking place. It had me gripped with emotion and I could not stop reading. The secondary characters were an absolute delight too, especially Haley, Jace’s right hand …err woman at the gym. Oh and Dr Knox was the revelation who came to the rescue at the finest hour. But the best, oh the whoo-hoo-de-loo best was Mitch, Dr Knox’s son. He was divine and rawr! (Yes he will be getting his own story soon, yay!) I loved how he also was a tease to Colt with Jace. Made me guffaw raucously.

But the ultimate best bits? Oh they were the sexy times with Colt and Jace. They were off the freakin’ charts, I needed my fan on! They were certainly getting jiggy with it! And the hand holding and knuckle kissing was so sah-weet.

This book is just so emotional and thought provoking. It was an AH-MAY-ZING experience of a read and I LOVED it! Another awesome book by the very talented Kindle Alexander. She’s my addiction. Well her men are, I just can’t get enough! Another, yes, ANOTHER ten star read from Ms Alexander for me. Brilliant. Absolutely. Readers you need this book, it’s like the air, you NEED to inhale it!
